Jefferson received nearly twice the normal precipitation in June according to volunteer weather observer John Beltz.
Beltz reported a total of 8.68 inches, compared to the normal 4.67 inches. He reported rain on 14 days, with the heaviest rainfalls being 3.85 inches on June 25 and 1.47 inches on June 12.
High temperature for June was 95 degrees on June 10. That was the only day with a temperature of 90 or higher. Average high temperature was 79 degrees, compared to the normal average high of 81.6 degrees. Low temperature was 49 degrees on June 1. The low temperate was 60 degrees or cooler on 14 days. Average low temperature was 59.6 degrees, compared to the normal average low of 58.2 degrees.
Record high temperature for June is 104 degrees set on June 20, 1988. Record low temperature is 32 degrees set on June 11, 1928.
Beltz calculated a total of 573 growing degree days for June; normal is 634. Growing degree days is a computation of the maximum temperature + the minimum temperature, divided by 2, and then 50 is subtracted from the quotient. In figuring the GDD, if the high temperature is greater than 86 degrees, 86 is used for the high. If the low temperature is below 50, then 50 is used for the low. The GDD was also below normal for May. Beltz calculated 351, with normal being 434.
